Introducing Junior Scientist Series

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! With the new year, the Youth Services Department is pleased to launch a science series for older children (ages 8-12). We're calling it "Junior Scientist Series", and each month we will be visited by a professor from Colorado Mesa University, who will host a program highlighting his or her speciality. The series will occur the last Monday of each month at 6:30PM in the Youth Services' Department at the Central branch. For now, we're planning on running the series into April.

This month, on January 30th, join us for "Unearthing History" with Dr. Rick Dujay, who will talk about his work with students and the Museum of Western Colorado as part of the Western Investigations Team. This team finds historical sites and uses metal detectors to locate artifacts. High-tech microscopes are then used to test the artifacts and fill in the gaps in Colorado history. Their work was recently featured on the Travel Channel regarding their insights into the Alferd Packer story.

Hope to see you there! No registration is required.

Diana
