I just wanted to remind you that there are three storytimes each week during the day at the Central branch. Ms. Cheryl offers a preschool storytime every Tuesday at 10:00, and an infant/toddler storytime on Thursday at 10:00. This summer Ms. Cheryl and the kids traveled to different parts of the world, learning about different animals, singing fun songs from all over the world, and reading good stories as well.
We even had guest visits us. On July 5, Mathias Mulumba came to a storytime about Africa. The kids played his drums, learned about the flag from Uganda, and sang a few songs. We also had some coworkers from another department - Public Service - come and do storytimes on Mexico on July 19 and 21. Laurie, Grace, Jessica, and Joe hosted a full-on fiesta! The kids learned some Spanish, talked about some of the things you would find if you traveled to Mexico, and danced in a conga line. They had a blast!
Also during a week of storytimes, we put on a puppet show called "Monkey Face." All the animal puppet in the show were performed by Library staff, as we always do. I hope you were able to make to the show; it was pretty cute. And last week we traveled to Europe during our storytimes. We danced the Chicken Dance and wore Edelweiss hats. There is always something fun to do at a storytime.
And, let's not forget the bilingual storytimes that Ms. Grace offers each Friday at 10:00. Kids learn Spanish vocabulary, hear fun stories in both Spanish and English, sing songs, and do fun activities, such as flannel board stories. This is a great way for children to practice both Spanish and English.
Have a good day.
Diana
P.S. Here are few photos from some storytimes in July for you to enjoy.
